Top Ten Stories In California Construction For 2015

2015 will be remembered as a busy if not historic year for the California construction industry. California is leading the nation’s construction revival, not only in dollars spent, but in world-class projects currently underway or planned. Builders and contractors are using new technology as never before, and are expanding the boundaries of design, sustainable development, and construction techniques. In the midst of this optimism, California is dealing with an historic drought, an affordable housing crisis, and massive public projects under siege. Then there was terrible news from Berkeley about the deaths of a number of students when the balcony they were standing on collapsed, and calls for greater scrutiny of construction industry settlements. But California is resilient, it will find a way to build the safest, most efficient, and most awe-inspiring projects in the nation; it will find a way to build new schools, and it will find a way to fix broken bridges. It may not be pretty, but California will get there with determination and hard work. 2015 was a momentous year for the construction industry and 2016 holds promise to be an even better year.
