Bill Baumgaertner has been with Haight, Brown & Bonesteel since 1975. He is a partner in the firm's Product Liability & Tort Litigation Practice Group with a primary emphasis on civil dispute resolution. Over the years, he has been intimately involved with the Superior Court of Los Angeles, serving on the committee that designed and implemented the Superior Court Fast Track Rules, Attorneys Special Arbitration Program and its present Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel. For over 25 years, he has heard at least two mediations on a pro bono basis per week and is regularly sought after by practitioners who have come to know his reputation as fair minded and practical.
Mr. Baumgaertner represents both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, wrongful termination, insurance bad faith, automotive product defect and medical and legal malpractice matters. He has a wealth of practical information which affords his clients practical insight and efficient strategies for early, economical case resolution. Mr. Baumgaertner knows the intricacies of representing major national and international insurance carriers, hotel chains, construction companies and joint powers associations. At the same time, he has an ample client base of individuals who have been devastated by severe personal injury or a family member's death.
Since 1983, Mr. Baumgaertner has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He lectures lawyers on civil procedure before trial, trial tactics, negotiation and settlement and has presented programs to the California Judges Association on insurance and settlement techniques. Although generally regarded as an extremely efficient settlement negotiator, he has successfully tried to verdict over 75 cases in various courts throughout California and the United States.
