Toxic Tort Litigation

HB&B has been at the cutting edge of toxic tort litigation since its explosive growth began in the mid-1970s. Since then, the firm has been involved in numerous high profile cases, including Sindell v. Abbott Laboratories, Brown v. Superior Court, Groll v. Shell Oil and Sanderson v. International Flavors. We have handled many cases involving legal and/or scientific questions of first impression.

Our toxic tort practice is founded on the fundamental strengths of our experienced attorneys in the areas of: (1) coordination of multi-party/mass tort litigation; (2) assessment of complex scientific and medical issues which are often involved in such cases; (3) cost-effective use of often-scarce litigation resources to achieve maximum impact; (4) law and motion; (5) trial practice; and (6) appellate practice to address unusual legal theories or positions advanced by plaintiffs.

We have served as national, regional and local counsel for clients in toxic tort cases based upon our strengths in these areas, and the settlement leverage that accompanies these strengths and the results we have achieved in the past. We have also, in many of these mass tort cases, represented several defendants simultaneously as a significant cost-saving device for the clients.
