Nicholas Directo is a member of the Risk Management & Insurance Law Practice Group. As an experienced advocate for the insurance industry, he focuses his practice on providing coverage advice to carriers on issues for E&O, D&O and CGL policies for new and ongoing claims. His background includes providing coverage opinions for numerous carriers, coverholders and syndicates of Lloyd’s of London.
Nicholas regularly investigates and monitors claims from inception through settlement and he is particularly knowledgeable analyzing coverage as it relates to cyber liability and technology claims in addition to coverage analysis for homeowners’ and personal liability policies.
Nicholas represents insurers in first-party bad faith claims, including liability analysis, recommended action plans for resolution and negotiating settlements with opposing counsel and insureds. He is skilled at communicating with his clients and providing effective representation and advice on issues unique to the insurance industry.
While in law school, Nicholas volunteered at the San Diego Legal Aid’s Domestic Violence Clinic, was a certified law clerk for the San Diego Public Defender’s Office, and was awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate in recognition for his pro bono service.
