Mr. Morton is a member of the Business Solutions, Construction Law, Public Sector, Risk Management & Insurance Law and Employment & Labor Practice Groups. Mr. Morton’s practice includes employment matters, contract litigation, torts/product litigation, insurance bad faith, and general business issues. He represents businesses in contract litigation that arises in many areas, such as unfair competition, collection matters, Lanham Act issues, public entities and employment issues. He has represented public utility water companies, appearing before regional water control boards, as well as PUC hearings on various issues involving water and sewer districts. Mr. Morton has tried in excess of 100 jury trials.

He represents businesses involved in California’s wine industry. He also represents agricultural businesses in litigation involving crop loss, labor contracts, as well as pesticide issues, trying many cases arising out of pesticide overspray, misapplication of pesticides and herbicides. He has represented feed and milling companies in cases arising out of adulterated feed.

In the healthcare field, Mr. Morton has represented hospitals on WARN act issues and general contract matters. He has represented physicians in administrative matters, including Peer Review Mandamus hearings, and has presented cases in defense of physicians before BMQA. He also assists physicians in litigation matters involving issues of capitation payments and contract breaches. He handles professional liability matters pertaining to accountants, insurance agents and brokers, directors and officers, attorneys and medical professionals. His many trials have included a range of cases involving car crashes, product liability, premises liability, employment, landslides, construction defect, intellectual property, insurance bad faith, professional liability including, directors and officers and community association matters.

Mr. Morton has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating of AV Preeminent and has held that distinction continuously since 1990. He was elected into ABOTA, an invitation only organization of lawyers who have tried a significant number of cases and an organization that is dedicated to the preservation of the 7th Amendment right to a jury trial.
