Stevie Baris is a member of the firm’s General Liability, Professional Liability, Public Sector and Transportation Law Practice Groups. She focuses on defending cases involving motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, product liability, wrongful death and professional liability.
Stevie has represented numerous corporations including trucking and transportation companies, insurance carriers and Fortune 500 companies. As a result of her extensive experience with federal and state laws and regulations, product liability and complex personal injury litigation, Stevie is ideally-suited to represent trucking and transportation companies both in and out of the courtroom, and she has assisted her clients in cases ranging from employment issues to catastrophic personal injury.
Prior to joining Haight, Stevie handled high-publicity and high-exposure litigation for Greek Letter Organizations, on matters ranging from claims of nuisance, to sexual assault and wrongful death, in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Such practice also required a vast array of intensive, pre-litigation investigations in the immediate aftermath of potential future claims. This additional experience and perspective enriches her general liability practice with invaluable insight when analyzing issues as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Ms. Baris’s well-rounded library of legal experience thus opened a new door for her to focus part of her practice on professional liability matters, where she now also works with clients on legal malpractice actions involving attorneys, accountants, directors, officers and other professionals.
Stevie handles cases from pre-litigation, emergency response investigations, through the conclusion of active litigation, and her thoughtful and communicative approach puts her clients at ease. Throughout her career, she has embraced the importance of her relationship with clients by emphasizing open lines of communication in all aspects of file handling and analysis, including discussion and development of strategy plans, settlement negotiations, early resolution and, when necessary, thoroughly preparing cases for trial.
Outside of the office, Stevie enjoys training for half-marathons, hikes along the coast with her husband and sheepadoodle, and attempting to locate San Francisco’s best oysters and iced lattes (though not at the same time).
