Ms. Moriarty endeavors to model her practice on the sentiment of Theodore Roosevelt’s famed Man in the Arena speech. She believes that civil litigation is best performed by those unafraid of entering the proverbial arena, undaunted by the combative nature of the field and prepared to advocate tirelessly for their client’s best outcome.

Ms. Moriarty joined Haight Brown & Bonesteel LLP as a law clerk in 2014 while attending Southwestern Law School as a full-time student. Since starting at Haight, Ms. Moriarty has garnered experience in nearly every phase of litigation from pre-litigation negotiation to post-trial motions.

Ms. Moriarty is a member of the Firm’s Risk Management & Insurance Law, Business Solutions, Employment & Labor, and Transportation Law Practice Groups. While at Haight, Ms. Moriarty has handled a wide variety of cases, reflective of the full-service offerings of the firm itself.

Business Solutions

Ms. Moriarty has been the handling attorney, defending clients in cases centered on contractual disputes varying widely in both substance and value. She has represented wholesale manufacturers, hardware distributors, recreational sports facilities and medical billing agencies in contractual disputes . She takes a proactive approach in these cases, seeking to first and foremost identify the potential exposure and setting forth a clear and decisive route towards limiting that exposure and the preservation of the business as a whole.

Professional Liability

Ms. Moriarty has handled a number of professional liability cases spanning from attorney malpractice to medical and veterinary liability. She strives to stay up-to-date with the changing landscape of these fields and the law which governs their professionals to not only defend existing suits, but to provide the information necessary to prevent potential litigation.

Employment & Labor

Ms. Moriarty has defended clients in a wide variety of matters including sexual harassment, wrongful termination, discrimination, wage and hour, and negligent supervision claims.

She also has appeared numerous times on behalf of major retailers in employment administrative proceedings before the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) under the purview of the Labor Commissioner’s office.

Transportation Law

A staple in her practice, Ms. Moriarty has handled numerous trucking and automobile claims during her tenure at Haight Brown & Bonesteel LLP ranging from straightforward fender-benders to multi-vehicle collisions involving catastrophic injury and loss of life. Mr. Moriarty believes that regardless of the value of the case, prudent handling of a transportation case requires immediate and meticulous investigation and evidence gathering. She believes that the moment of impact between two or more vehicles triggers the start of the case and a great attorney is already on the starting block, ready to take off towards accident-investigation the moment the client calls.

Landlord/Tenant & Habitability

Ms. Moriarty has handled a number of landlord/tenant and habitability cases defending high-profile corporate commercial landlords , independently-owned hotels, and residential landlords with expansive portfolios. With the ever-changing landscape of state and municipal requirements for commercial and residential landlords, Ms. Moriarty recognizes the importance of staying up-to-date on the development of the law and the increased purview of the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization ordinance as it applies to her clients and their properties.
