Plaintiff, a 49 year old female, was hospitalized for nearly two months at defendant hospital’s facility. She claimed that during that hospitalization she was sexually assaulted by a nurse. Punitive Damages were claimed. Although the defendant hospital, represented by another firm, had been in the case since the inception, the case was almost two years old before the individual nurse was properly served. Ms. Haskins was retained as independent counsel for the nurse and, following extensive meet and confer discussions with counsel for plaintiff, she secured a dismissal for waiver of the nurse within two months of filing an Answer. The defendant hospital was invited into the meet and confer with a Joint Defense Agreement and was able to resolve the matter in the course of these negotiations.
