Intern in UC Davis’ Residency Program Struck by Car in Unsignalized Crosswalk

Co-tried a case with Sacramento’s City Attorney. Plaintiff was an intern in UC Davis’ residency program when she was struck by a car in a cross-walk that was not signalized. Plaintiff was in a coma for 45 days and had part of the left frontal lobe removed as a result of a subdural hematoma. On the 10th day of trial, a high/low agreement was reached with plaintiff for $1 million low and $6 million high. On the 15th day of trial, the jury came back with a verdict of $18,000,000. Result saved the client $12,000,000.
