Melvin Marcia is a member of the firm’s Transportation Law, Product Liability and Fire Litigation Practice Groups. His practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, product liability and subrogation matters.
Melvin’s clients include national and regional trucking and transportation companies, product manufacturers, Fortune 500 companies, individuals and business owners. His previous experience as a claims examiner for Safeway, Inc.’s Risk Management Department has added great value and insight when it comes to the analysis and strategy he applies to each of the matters he handles as well as a greater understanding of his clients, their needs and concerns.
As an experienced litigator, he easily maneuvers through California’s state and federal courts. He handles cases from pre-litigation strategy and analysis to discovery, law and motion, mediation/settlement negotiations, taking and defending depositions of parties, percipient witnesses, experts in numerous fields and corporate representatives – all the way through trial preparation.
Prior to joining Haight’s Sacramento office, Melvin worked for a civil defense firm in the San Francisco Bay area where he handled catastrophic injury claims, premises liability, ADA litigation, wrongful death, commercial litigation and construction defect.
Melvin volunteered at The Katherine and George Alexander Community Law Center’s workers rights clinic where he provided free legal services to low-income individuals who have experienced unfair and illegal treatment at their place of employment.
Melvin is an avid sports fan and long suffering Oakland A’s fan. On his free time he enjoys spending time with family and getting out on a golf course.
