Mountainside Collapse Due to Land Subsidence

Represented one of the largest ranch holders in Southern California against a multitude of claims when a mountainside collapsed, burying a substantial part of a small coastal town, causing 10 fatalities, significant injuries, the widespread destruction of homes and other property damage, Dane Alvis, et al. v. La Conchita Ranch Co. CIV238700-728 (Ventura Super., Ct. filed Jan 26, 2006).

Retained to defend multiple Ranch Defendants in the above-referenced litigation, successful in securing summary judgment in favor of several of our clients. The remainder of the case proceeded to bifurcated trial and, at the end of a two month jury trial on the liability phase, successful in obtaining a defense verdict on behalf of another Ranch Defendant. The balance of the case was then settled on terms favorable to the remaining Ranch Defendant.
