Six (6) adult children claimed wrongful death of their 82 year old father who was hospitalized for elective orthopedic surgery and expired a few days after the procedure. Plaintiffs’ claims relied on a private autopsy performed through 1-800-Autopsy. The lawsuit was filed in 2019 and lingered throughout the pandemic and Court closures. In the eleventh hour before opposition to the pending Motion for Summary Judgment was due, plaintiffs accepted a nominal settlement offered by Ms. Haskins’ hospital client.
